Palazzo Poggi is located in Via Zamboni 33 Bologna and hosts the headquarters of the University of Bologna and the rector of the same.

Between 1712 and 1725 was built the "Tower of the Observatory" when the Palace became the seat of the Institute of Sciences.

Inside the palace there are also numerous University Museums and the rectory and the University Library of Bologna has preserved the "Picture Gallery" with over 600 fine portraits; iconographic collection was begun in 1754.

In the eighteenth century it was attached to the north side of the Palace, the monumental "Great Hall" of the Institute inaugurated in 1756.
